that's right, moxie is finally in, hot off the presses! we've hooked up with cdbaby to sell it (click here) and while we work on revamping the web site, you can also listen to clips of all of the songs over there, too. we're proud and hope you dig it, too :}

it's been a few months, and my daughter is now almost 5 months old! and yes, we were mildly sidetracked in that time, but not as much as you might guess. we've been pretty actively doing extensive email discussions as we went through the mastering process and possible album cover designs.
heather is once again doing our album design and has come up with tons of great options and with a band of 5 individuals of course we're having the expected tough time narrowing down to which one we are all the happiest with. suffice it to say we should be chosen in the next month or heads will roll-- all of ours, and probably at heather's blade!

we're now starting to talk about album design, song order, and schedule mastering of the now-mixed tracks. we've even started playing the mixes for some folks to get feedback.

in other good news, a date is being made for the mixing of the new album. sean is on the east coast for the time being, rob's a new dad, and i'm a new dad-to-be (not 'til feb), so it'll be good to finish this album up and get it out there! i'm sure we'll get our act together for a local show to celebrate it when it's mastered and duplicated :}

so we're at the point where rob has finished most of his tracking and we're listening to some rough mixes i've made of all of the tunes and feeling pretty happy about them so far. i've used the opportunity to pick up some more technique that'll come in handy during the real mixdown and mastering process. a couple of minor things cropped up which we'll retrack, plus of course we still have the other stuff still to do. progress has been stunted by the fact that most of my time is occupied with writing a streaming audio book and planning my wedding! i suspect once we get into the latter part of january things will pick back up a fair bit.
happy holidays everyone!

here's a pic of steve laying down tracks back on aug 30th. we are now in the process of doing more guitar tracks and get things moving again for the new album.

Subject: nadine's wild weekend: stellavision @ kimos this saturday, aug 18!
[= Forget who you know? The four dos and a don't of Stellavision are:
[= Jon Luini, Steve Schneider, Rob Simmons, Glenn Smith, and Sean Sullivan
Greetings Friends,
It's been a long wait, but Stellavision will perform this weekend at the _fabulous_ Kimo's nightclub at 1351 Polk St. We will showcase our latest material alongside some of the finest local bands in the greater bay area. For this, my friends, is Nadine's Wild Weekend <www.nadineswildweekend.com/2001/> and great original music will be performed all over the city. We're honored to have been chosen by Nadine and her small army of reviewers for this event. Not only will you get some good music, but a portion of the money raised from door will go to the SIBL Project (Musicians Joining the Fight for Literacy) which funds 26 adult reading programs in the Bay Area through songwriting efforts.
We are scheduled to go on at 11:15pm (see full schedule below). Thankfully, this gives you plenty of time to finish up dinner (and a movie?) before arriving at Kimo's to take in those sweet Stella sounds. But be warned: our set will be a brief thirty minutes. If you're late, you're liable to miss the show. Since nobody wants that, we encourage you to stop by a bit early, take in some other fine local bands and swap some lies with your buddies in Stellavision.
Also, a quick newsworthy sidenote: We (mostly jon so far) have been putting up some news updates on our web sites with more regular updates of what we're up to, and where we're at with our new recording project. We invite you to visit as often as you like for the latest at: http://www.stellavision.com/news/

in other news, i've been horribly backlogged and slacked off on getting video online which means i've now got both the baytv and the b&w ball footage to deal with. on the positive side, baytv apparently reran our episode and we heard a new batch of positive comments on it, which is always nice!

our dressing room was next door to josh joplin who's band was kind to us, but apparently too hip to dress in black and white for the show. we, on the other hand, were easily convinced to get into the mood and dress up a bit. tommy castro, who we followed, fit right in with the typical bluesman attire of a black tshirt, so he was covered. a coupla photos from post-soundcheck are up in the photo gallery in case you haven't seen 'em yet.
we managed to catch a little bit of los lobos (amazing as always) and a snippet or two of the ohio players before having to rush back for our set. we noticed when the big headliners kool and the gang hit the stage and everyone left to go boogie down to the 70s, but were happily surprised at the diehards looking for a rock 'n roll time who returned and boogied throughout the rest of our set. cheers to ya!

if i'm lucky, i'll find some time to work on editing together the behind-the-scenes footage from the bay-tv gig soon and upload it to y'all! in other news, my home studio is starting to be rebuilt at the new place and steve and i attacked a rough mix of the new version of the old tune "that's it". not so bad, not so bad. it's not as complete (needs backup vox, for one thing) as the other three tunes we've had rough mixed for a while, but it's good to start building some momentum.
